With the rise of social media, broadcasting images of bikini-clad people frolicking on beaches, poolside, at yacht parties and/or vacationing in picturesque locales is no longer a professional choice by celebrities, but a pastime to many. Such attention to style generates a longer buying cycle, creativity in design, workmanship and unique fabrics for swimwear. LA Swim Week returned in July 2016 at the Skirball Cultural Center for a second installment of the best in swimwear, fashion, beach life, beauty, health and fitness from around the world. Culture and lifestyle are two important elements to LA Swim Week, founded by Connie Borja. This year’s event started with a pop-up shop, networking, music performances and culminated with a sumptuous fashion show. Rocking the runway this year were returning favorites Greek swimwear label Beachflirt22 and The 8th Continent from Japan, as well as the up-and-coming local brand Amour.
